Fourth Sunday in Ordinary Time
PETITIONS AND PRAYERS OF THE FAITHFUL

PRESIDER      Our faithful God hears the cry of the poor. With confidence let us present our prayers.


1. For the Church: that we may confront evil in all of its forms through our words and deeds of loving service so that all may know freedom in Christ

We pray to the Lord

LORD, HEAR OUR PRAYER

2. For members of Congress and legislatures: that they will hear the needs of the powerless and marginalized as legislation and priorities are developed
We pray to the Lord

3. For all who suffer from the cold: that they may find warmth, shelter, and assistance
We pray to the Lord

4. For members of the military: that God will guide and protect them, and lead them home safely
We pray to the Lord

5. For our parish community, that we may seek God first in our lives and love others with the love with which God first loves us
We pray to the Lord

6. For all our relatives and friends who have died, especially for

PRESIDER     Lord God, you deliver us from evil. Listen to our prayers and make us worthy followers of your Son. We ask this through Christ our Lord. Amen.

Third Sunday in Ordinary Time
PETITIONS AND PRAYERS OF THE FAITHFUL

PRESIDER      With confidence in our God, let us present our prayers with faith and hope.


1. For the Church: that we may faithfully announce the Good News by our lives and draw others to Christ through our deeds of love and compassionate words

We pray to the Lord

LORD, HEAR OUR PRAYER

2. For Congress and the Administration: that God will inspire them with insight and understanding as they seek to confront the issues facing our society
We pray to the Lord

3. For peace: that God will free the world from terrorism and touch hearts to yearn for new ways to work together for the common good
We pray to the Lord

4. For a deeper appreciation of life: that the Spirit of God will guide us towards ending abortion and all the factors which lead people to choose it
We pray to the Lord

5. For our parish community, that we may persevere in following Christ day by day despite obstacles and challenges
We pray to the Lord

6. For all our relatives and friends who have died, especially for

Second Sunday in Ordinary Time
PETITIONS AND PRAYERS OF THE FAITHFUL

PRESIDER      We entrust the Father with our lives and needs in the same hope as Samuel and the first apostles.


1. For the Church: that we may introduce others to Christ through our lives, our deeds, and our words

We pray to the Lord

LORD, HEAR OUR PRAYER

2. For Christian Unity: that God will establish greater understanding and cooperation within the Body of Christ so that all Christians may work together to confront evil and further the work of God
We pray to the Lord

3. For the healing of the human family: that the Spirit of God will heal the wounds of prejudice and racism, and open the way for people to work together for justice and dignity
We pray to the Lord

4. For wounded members of the military: that God will heal their wounds and painful memories and help them find the resources to live full and active lives
We pray to the Lord

5. For all of us here today, that God will help us to draw closer to our neighbors and build communities of trust and justice
We pray to the Lord

6. For all our relatives and friends who have died, especially for

The Baptism of the Lord
PETITIONS AND PRAYERS OF THE FAITHFUL

PRESIDER      Made children of God through baptism, we raise up our prayers in confidence


1. For the Church: that God's Spirit may be renewed with us so that we may share in the prayer, proclamation and service ministries of Christ

We pray to the Lord

LORD, HEAR OUR PRAYER

2. For the new Congress: that God will inspire their deliberations and help them work together to develop policies and laws that will promote the common good
We pray to the Lord

3. For all the victims of the Air Asia plane crash and of the Paris newspaper shooting: that God will draw them into eternal light and give peace to their families and friends
We pray to the Lord

4. For all who are preparing for baptism and for all who are newly baptized: that the Spirit of God will guide their growth in faith, wisdom, and holiness
We pray to the Lord

5. For all of us here today, that we may faithfully live our baptismal commitment and be true children of God
We pray to the Lord

6. For all our relatives and friends who have died, especially for
