CHRISTMAS
PETITIONS AND PRAYERS OF THE FAITHFUL


PRESIDER      With hearts full of expectation, we place our needs and concerns before our heavenly Father.


1. That we, the Church, may joyfully proclaim the birth of our Savior and transform the world through word and deed.

We pray to the Lord

LORD, HEAR OUR PRAYER

2. For all who are away from home during the Christmas season, particularly missionaries and members of the military: that God will fill their hearts with peace and reunite them with loved ones in the New Year
We pray to the Lord

3. For peace in the world: that the Prince of Peace will turn hearts from violence, and lead all people to new respect for human life
We pray to the Lord

4. For all children: that the hope that fills their hearts in this season may become firmly planted and sustain them throughout life's journey
We pray to the Lord

5. For our parish family that we share the joy and love of Christmas with each other all throughout the year.
We pray to the Lord

6. For all our relatives and friends who have died and for all who mourn them.
We pray to the Lord

7.   FOR ALL PARISHIONERS LIVING AND DECEASED AND FOR THE INTENTIONS OF THE CHRISTMAS FLOWER DONORS
Remembered in a special way at this Mass,

8. For the special intentions mentioned in our petition book, on our prayer line, and for additional intentions we hold in the silence of our hearts. (Pause)

PRESIDER     Loving God, you sent your Son to be with us always. Listen kindly to our prayers and grant us the peace proclaimed by angels through Christ our Lord. Amen.


December 20/21
Fourth Sunday of Advent
PETITIONS AND PRAYERS OF THE FAITHFUL

PRESIDER      O God of love, you looked with favor on your servant Mary. Look with favor on the prayers we now bring to you.


1. For the Church: that we may recognize that God dwells in each of us and brings God's presence into all the places where life takes us

We pray to the Lord

LORD, HEAR OUR PRAYER

2. For Congress: that God will guide their deliberations and help them to find ways to advance the greatest good for all who live in our nation
We pray to the Lord

3. For the Christians of the Holy Land: that they may find ways to work with all their neighbors to build a peace based on justice and respect
We pray to the Lord

4. For all who are traveling during this season: that they may arrive safely and share the love and warmth of family and friends
We pray to the Lord

5. For all gathered here that while we are busy making preparations to celebrate Christmas, we will take time to make room for God.
We pray to the Lord

6. For all our relatives and friends who have died, especially for

Third Sunday of Advent
PETITIONS AND PRAYERS OF THE FAITHFUL

PRESIDER      Hear our prayers, O God, as we place our needs before you.


1. For the Church: during this holy season of Advent, that we testify to Christ by rejoicing in him always

We pray to the Lord

LORD, HEAR OUR PRAYER

2. For our Holy Father, all bishops and clergy: that they may reflect the love and compassion of Christ and draw their people ever closer to Him
We pray to the Lord

3. For peace throughout the world: that God will inspire all world leaders with new insights to establish peace and good order in the world.
We pray to the Lord

4. For families who are grieving, especially for the families of Sandy Hook on the anniversary of this tragedy, may they continue to find comfort and peace in the Divine Savior.
We pray to the Lord

5. For our parish community: that through the reflections of Advent, we may recognize the depth and quality of love that we have for spouses, family members, and all who are significant in our lives
We pray to the Lord

6. For all our relatives and friends who have died, especially for

PRESIDER     O God, you have done great things for us. Strengthen us as we follow John the Baptist's call to change our lives. We ask this through Christ our Lord Amen

Second Sunday of Advent
PETITIONS AND PRAYERS OF THE FAITHFUL

PRESIDER      Lord, you call us to prepare for your coming. We present our needs and concerns to you.


1. For the Church: that God will give us the strength to make changes so that we may live more fully the way of justice and holiness

We pray to the Lord

LORD, HEAR OUR PRAYER

2. For an easing of tensions between nations and within nations: that God will open new paths for communication and the resolution of disputes.
We pray to the Lord

3. For Christians during this Advent season: that we turn from violence, opulence, and greed and strive to promote honest and loving relationships
We pray to the Lord

4. For deeper respect and appreciation for the created world: that we may be good stewards of the earth that God has provided for our well-being and that of future generations
We pray to the Lord

5. For our parish community: that God will renew the gift of the Spirit within us and help us to manifest God's presence in our lives
We pray to the Lord

6. For all our relatives and friends who have died, especially for

PRESIDER     God our Father, you sent John the Baptist to prepare the way for Jesus. Fill us with courage as we turn away from sin towards lives of grace. We ask this through Christ our Lord. Amen
