September Food Collection for MACC Charities Food Pantry & Shelter

Please help continue the generous spirit of St. Bart's parish by bringing in food to stock the shelves at the MACC Charities food pantry. St. Bart's is one of the founding members of MACC; what a wonderful way to continue the 50th anniversary celebration of our parish.

During the month of September, please bring in non-perishable foods of all types. Hunger doesn't just happen around the holidays. The need is up greatly due to the recent and unprecedented increase in food and transportation costs.

Beth Stafford, Executive Director, and Dale Doll, Manager of Food Services, MACC explain the need this way:
"We are working with our MACC clients to insure that they are receiving all the government benefits that they are entitled to, and we are holding budgeting and meal planning classes to help folks make the most of what they receive. The need is still so great however, as most families MACC helps are working full time or multiple low-paying jobs and still have to forfeit their food budget in order to pay rent, utilities, medical and transportation costs."
Three ways you can help:
Donate non-perishable foods to MACC. Shop the annual summer "Can Can" sale at ShopRite and donate some of the bargains you find there to MACC. The larger cans are welcome also, and are used to feed a large family or in the soup kitchen for the community meals.
Give a tax-deductible financial gift to "MACC" earmarked for food.
Donate grocery gift cards in small denominations ($5-$15) to give to people in need of fresh dairy products, special diet restriction foods, personal care items, baby supplies, etc. that may not be stocked in the pantry at the time of their visit. MACC does not give money to people, so this is the next best thing.
Please consider bringing in food each week, perhaps a food for a different meal each week. Or fill a bag of food from each of these categories. THANK YOU!
