A Year In The Life of St. Bartholomew Parish

SEPTEMBER

PARISH PICNIC
Our celebration began with the PARISH PICNIC on September 9, 2007 at Northwest Park. A BIG THANK YOU TO THE PICNIC COMMITTEE for another successful Annual Picnic. Good food and fellowship was enjoyed by all who attended. The committee worked very hard to make this kick-off for St. Bart's 50th Anniversary a very special event. Thank you Shady Glen for your generous donation of ice cream and cole slaw!

The Reminder Newspaper published a nice article and photos about the event in their September 18 issue. Read the article at the Reminder's website or download the article (reprinted with permission).

OCTOBER

BLOOD DRIVE
The Red Cross collected 28 units of blood that will go to help up to 84 Connecticut hospital patients.  A special "thank you " to Ed Rowe who arrived very early that morning and to all adults and youth who helped and volunteered their time.
CHILDREN'S PUMPKIN PARTY
26 children and 12 volunteers got together for a candle light prayer walk, to learn about All Soul's day and participate in some good old fashion pumpkin fun!
CONFIRMATION
On Saturday, October 20, 48 youth were confirmed by the Most Reverend Christie Macaluso.  It was a beautiful ceremony.  Thank you to the teachers and peer ministers who supported the candidates over the last two years. Special thanks to Mary Jo Tomsic, who did a wonderful job with the youth choir, Rita Labato and Rita Borden for the church decorations, Eileen Riccio and Charlotte Manning for the reception preparations.

NOVEMBER

WINE TASTING
The social committee held a wine tasting at Georgina's Restaurant on Friday, November 9. The evening included a variety of red and white wines, delicious hors d'oeuvres and other appetizers, assorted cookies, pies, tea and coffee. There was dancing to DJ "In the Groove". It was a great evening for parishioners to get together, and a nice way for one to meet other parishioners that may have been just a familiar face at Mass.

FEBRUARY

JUBILEE CONCERT
"Organists Past and Present of St. Bartholomew Church" filled the church with the sound of organ, piano and vocal performances. Featured performers included Nicole Bernier, Chris Burke, Carol Gregoire, Elana Haveles Owens, and the Donovan sisters - Kathy, Nancy and Jane (Peacock). The evening concluded with refreshments in the Father Hussey Hall.
