Parish 50th Anniversary
1958 - 2008

We hope that the word is getting out - our church will celebrate its 50-year anniversary on October 5th of 2008!

We will follow the joyful tradition of celebrating this great Jubilee for a whole year -- with the Parish Picnic Sept. 9th as the kickoff. You will be informed of, and invited to join in many events, some large and some small, as we find ways to remember and celebrate our church, past and present.

Some weekend Masses may include guests like Fr. Scholsky, or Sisters from the former St. Bart's School. We may ask you to stand for special blessings, as we remember people who have served in various ministries over the past years, and especially our important founding members.

We have a new glass-door cabinet in the Hall you may have noticed. This will be filled with any memorabilia or photos you'd like to share from your time here, including sacramental photos. Please contact the office or Jane Peacock with any fun things about the church that you may have around your house.

Extra Social Activities are being planned, for example a wine-tasting party at Georgina's Banquet Hall on November 9th. There is a Publicity Committee that will take photographs and video of people and events, so that we will have a keepsake of the life of our Parish in this special year. The History Committee will compile a booklet with a sort of "family history" of our parish and the evolution of this faith community.

Lastly, there is a new, flashy, custom-designed Anniversary Banner that was unveiled at the Parish Picnic. This will be unfurled at our get-togethers this year with great pride, as we remind ourselves of the blessings we give and receive as members of this church community.

Building a church does not end after the walls and roof are finished, as our first parishioners can tell you. The history of St. Bartholomew's Church is made up of all the prayers and all the friendship, all of the suffering and all of the charity of the people who have passed through our doors, and are still to come.

Our new song in September, "All are Welcome", speaks about the constant building of church, every week and every year, as we live out the message of Christ given to us through His own church.

"Let us build a house where hands will reach beyond the wood and stone, to heal and strengthen, serve and teach, and live the Word they've known."
